Can’t regular belt drives have low resistance too?

In its default configuration, the E.P.I.C. Drivetrain (EPIC-D) has lower belt tension compared to the standard configurations of conventional e-board belt drives.

While it’s possible to loosen the belts on regular belt drives to a level similar to the EPIC-D’s, doing so on today’s powerful electric skateboards increases the likelihood of belt skipping. With the EPIC-D, the belts remain loose by design without the risk of skipping.
