How do I unlock the top speed limit?

For the customer’s safety, each Parsec electric skateboard ships with a default max speed limit to prevent unintended increases in speed when certain components are changed. This limit can be adjusted in the board’s advanced settings (see user manual).

Modifications that Affect Speed

Certain aftermarket modifications can affect an electric skateboard’s speed:

  1. Swapping the stock wheels for different diameter wheels changes the speed. For example, swapping 80mm wheels for 120mm results in a 50% top speed increase.
  2. On boards with interchangeable or adjustable driven gears (such as wheel pulleys), changing to different-sized gears also changes the speed. For example, swapping 36T pulleys for 32T increases the top speed by 12.5%.

As another example, combining both modifications—swapping from 80mm to 120mm wheels and 36T to 32T pulleys—yields a 68.75% increase in top speed. This means that without a speed limiter, an original top speed of 26 mph would be increased to about 44 mph.

Displaying Accurate Speed

For the remote’s display to show accurate distance and speed readings after changing wheels and/or driven gears, the wheel size and gear ratio parameters need to be updated in settings. Refer to the board’s user manual for instructions.

Note: The Aero Pro’s MAX SPEED parameter is currently capped at 31 mph (50 km/h). While achieving a higher top speed through other means is possible, the displayed speed will show a lower value. We do not recommend attempting this as it may affect performance and safety.
